journal

I love the feeling of going to the mountains. The static of life in the city fades away. The challenge of moving through rugged landscapes brings me out of my head and into my body. I love long days on the trail where time slows down and the Experience lives in my memory for years. I created the alpenflo project to share my passion for seeking an authentic life through outdoor Experience.

summer run

Oh I am definitely jumping in that thing, I thought to myself.

We were midway through our run up Hamilton Mountain, it was a hot summer day and as we passed the waterfall cascading into the pool I could barely resist the urge to hop in that cool, dark water right then and there.

A few weeks ago I had the chance to be a part of a short film for Territory Run Co. Brett (owner of Territory) and I had chatted about it on a few occasions and finally we were able to get a few people and a date together.

The project was a lot of fun. We piled into Brett’s station wagon and headed for the Gorge. We ran, we laughed a lot, and we even found a spot for a dip tucked in the folds of the Gorge’s side canyons. Here’s the film, if you’ve got a couple of minutes to join us for a summer run, check it out.

It was really fun to work on a project like this. I love what Brett at Territory is doing to build a community around trail running in Portland, and it was awesome to get front-row seats to the incredibly talented Steven Mortinson’s filmaking process.

A perfect summer evening spent trail running with friends, what could be better? A swim at the end to top things off of course.
